Construction Product Regulation

What is CPR?

The Construction Product Regulation CPR is a European standard that sets strict restrictions for the construction and design of all products destined for the civil engineering industry. The main purpose is to increase safety of infrastructure buildings and minimize losses in terms of lives and property during fires.

Applied in all the European Community member states, the Construction Product Regulation CPR affects also the cable industry, subjecting all the cables for civil installations to the EN 50575 standards, which define the cable performances, characteristics, and marking.

Classification of reaction to fire:

CPR regulation identifies seven Euroclasses stating the product fire reaction properties, relying on three main criteria: smoke production, flaming droplets/particles and acidity of the combustion gasses:
