FIRECEL MI are intended to be installed in critical safety circuits which are used to operate under fire conditions in severe applications where the mechanical cables performances are primarily required. Typical applications are:
Tunnels
Industrial Plants Harsh Environments
Hazardous Areas
Historical Buildings
These cables comply with following standards:
BS 5839 “Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings. Code of practice for system design, installation, commissioning and maintenance”
BS 5266 “Emergency lighting. Code of practice for the emergency lighting of premises”
-40°C to +250°C
6 times the outer diameter.
| Basic design | IEC 60702-1 & 2 |
| Fire resistant | BS 6387 (cat. C-W-Z) BS 8434-2 EN 50200 annex E IEC 60331-21 |
| Flame retardant | EN 60332-1-2 |
| Acid gas emission | EN 50267-2-1 |
| Smoke density | EN 61034-2 |
ETP solid (not stranded) copper cores, from 1 to 400 mm2, melting point 1082°CInsulation
Mica/Glass fire resistant tape covered by high performance fire resistant silicone
rubber type EI2 to BS EN 50363-1.
Magnesium Oxide (MgO) as electrical insulation,
high performance at high temperature (melting point 2600°C)
High quality DHP copper sheath, manufactured starting from tubes extruded and drawn only (not welded), melting point 1082°C
LSZH additional outer covering. Such flame retardant polyolefin is characterized by high performance in corrosion resistance and low smoke emission.
Production process foresee many steps of diameter reduction (both drawings and rollings) separated by high temperature annealing.
Strong compression of MgO powder (density about 2 g/cm3) allows very high values of insulation resistance (also if burned, 180° bent or flattened) and thermal conductivity. Therefore current ratings are higher than soft skin cables, especially at high temperature.
